"Wakatsuki Tsuwano" reopens on 17 July 2026
The old-folk-house auberge "Wakatsuki Tsuwano" in Tsuwano-cho, Shimane Prefecture, will reopen on Friday 17 July 2026. Under the theme "Resonance with Tsuwano through all five senses", we are launching four new initiatives.
Four new initiatives
- A dual use of the main house: the main house, registered as a tangible cultural property, will be transformed into a venue for Japanese-style afternoon tea by day, and a guests-only lounge by night.
- A new private pavilion, "Tainai-yoku": a permanent pavilion converted from one of the storehouses.
- Yoshinori Ikenoya appointed Brand Executive Chef: the Tsuwano gastronomy course menu will be refreshed under his direction.
- Afternoon tea introduced for day visitors: a new service designed for travellers passing through.
Special plan before the reopening
During the pre-reopening preparation period (8 June to 16 July), we offer a special accommodation plan at approximately half our usual rate.
